Cleaning up the air and slowing the pace of warming:  opportunities for early action in the Middle-East and North Africa region

The aim of the meeting is to explore opportunities to improve health, air quality, and climate in the Arab countries of the Middle East and North Africa through the reduction in the emissions resulting from implementating actions on short-lived climate pollutants.   

Among the issues reviewed will be:

  • The propects for air pollution and climate change in the region up to 2030 in the absence of action on short-lived climate pollutants
  • Feasible mitigation technologies and strategies and opportunities for their implementation at national scale;
  • The potential contribution of short-lived climate pollutants mitigation to economic development and health protection;
  • Linking short-lived climate pollutants mitigation to broader regional air pollution and climate strategies and their benefit for the Middle-East and North Africa region.


The meeting will include invited presentations, contributions and comment by participants, and group discussion.
