Climate & Clean Air Coalition (CCAC)
Tuesday, 14 November: Plan your day at COP23!
The Coalition is co-organising several events under the Marrakech Partnership Global Climate Action agenda (MPGCA) High Level Roundtables on Climate Action for Zero Hunger. Ministers and heads of state from our partners will also convene on the margins of COP23 for our 9th High Level Assembly. Find all information you need to attend here:
ICLEI-UN Environment Mayors Breakfast
With Cities around the world increasingly committing to sustainable development, the Roundtable brings together mayors driving innovation, ideas and solutions to commit on action against air pollution. Participation by invitation only.
MPGCA High Level Roundtable, co-organised by the CCAC
Room 3, Bonn zone
This roundtable brings together the agriculture, food, energy, transport and climate communities to identify what actions are needed to deliver climate-resilient food systems and low carbon rural transport networks as part of wider rural transformations to achieve SDG2 and the Paris Agreement.
MPGCA High-Level Roundtable, co-organised by the CCAC
Room 1, Bonn zone
Sustainable Development Goal 2, "End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture," establishes a clear linkage between ending hunger and malnutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture. It aims to improve the livelihoods and resilience of the world’s more than 500 million family farmers, fishers, indigenous communities and pastoralists at the centre of the action frame. To achieve this vision, the rural poor must be recognized as agents of change in promoting the agricultural and rural transformation that is needed to end hunger and adapt to and combat climate change.
As one of the High Level Roundtables on Climate Action for Zero Hunger, this roundtable explores challenges and opportunities in the forest and agricultural sectors. It identifies support needed to allow small-scale foresters, indigenous peoples and pastoralists to build sustainable coping strategies, and explores the role of investors and the private sector therein.
CCAC governance meeting
Room Rakiraki, Bula zone
The 9th High Level Assembly of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) will be held on the margins of the 23rd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The Assembly will focus on actions taken on methane and black carbon to help accelerate the implementation of the Paris Agreement in the near-term. We will also take stock of progress towards the early ratifications of the Kigali Amendment to phase down the use of HFCs. Reducing these short-lived climate pollutants, in addition to the long-lived ones like carbon dioxide, will help us raise the ambition in future national climate plans.
In line with the topics chosen by the Climate Champions, we will focus our attention this year on actions related to agriculture and municipal solid waste, linked to the Sustainable Development Goals 2 (zero hunger) and 11 (sustainable cities and communities), respectively. Participants will share progress on actions from last year: introducing low-sulfur diesel and cleaner vehicles; initiating black carbon inventories; and bringing forward regulations to reduce methane emissions from oil and gas production.
Note: Attendance is limited to CCAC ministers and heads of partner organisations. Partners can find out more about this event by logging onto the CCAC Intranet.
