The governments of the Argentine Republic and the United States are working together with the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT), the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC), Centro Mario Molina Chile, and the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) to enhance international cooperation on policies for clean and efficient heavy-duty vehicles and improve compliance of vehicle emissions with established regulations.
Day 1: Compliance
Overview: This summit aims to equip regulators with knowledge and tools to enhance vehicle emissions compliance and enforcement practices. Updates to international best practices on mobile source emissions compliance and enforcement, technical and testing methods for in-use compliance, and strategies for contextualizing these practices to South America will be discussed.
Day 2: Roadmap to Soot-Free Heavy-Duty Vehicles
Overview: The workshop will focus on the motivation to start planning a move to sootfree (Euro VI/US 2010) and zero-emissions heavy-duty vehicles, including the experiences of early adopters and the progress made in the region towards a cleaner heavy-duty fleet. What is needed to facilitate the shift for South American countries to introduce soot-free and zero-emission technologies, and the associated costs, roadmap, and complementary policies of such a transition will be covered.
