Ms Bahijjatu Abubakar, National Coordinator of the Renewable Energy Programme, Federal Ministry of Environment, Nigeria, addresses delegates at the European Development Days, 2016. She highlights how the roll out of improved household energy products like clean cookstoves and lighting in Nigeria is protecting women and children from indoor air pollution, reducing climate warming black carbon, and leading to healthy, more productive lives.
"Looking at the changes in lighting and cooking, you see the human face of climate action," Ms Abubakar says. "The Climate and Clean Air Coaltion has intiaitives with a human face. I encourage every developed country, every development partner that is involved in the climate space to ensure that [reduction of] short lived climate pollutants becomes a part of every single development project."
