The regulation (under The Environment Act) bans coal and petroleum coke for use as a space heating fuel. The regulation states that Manitobans may continue to use coal for space heating until June 30, 2017. However, they must submit a conversion plan that meets the requirements of the regulation by June 30, 2014. The ban on using petroleum coke as a space heating fuel took effect December 31, 2013.
