In this Africa Climate Week 2021 affiliated session, we will present updated NDC commitments in the region and highlight how the CCAC's on-going Africa Integrated Assessment on Air Pollution and Climate Change in Africa can provide guidance and recommendations to raise climate ambition through action to reduce short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs).

Representatives from Benin, Cote D’Ivoire, Morocco and Nigeria will share their experiences in updating their NDCs and related policies, and provide lessons and insights on following three key questions:

  • Why was it important for their country to update their NDC to include action on SLCPs and air pollution as benefits from climate change action?
  • What process was followed in updating the NDC and how did this process work across relevant agencies?
  • What are the next steps?

Participants will also hear from the co-chairs of the Africa Integrated Assessment and representatives from the Climate and Clean Air Coalition and Stockholm Environment Institute.

To attend this session, participants should register on the Africa Climate Week 2021 platform
