The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) has been a Climate and Clean Air Coalition partner since 2015, working to support effort to reduce short-lived climate pollutants in India.
TERI is an implementer in the Coalition's Municipal Solid Waste Initiative and provides capicity building to cities in the Coalition's Indian cities network. TERI has participated in CCAC funded research on air quality, including on the report, Breathing Cleaner Air, which outlines solutions that can significantly reduce air pollution in Indian cities.
TERI has played an important role in advocating for and formalizing India's National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), which was officially launched in January 2019. Since then, TERI has contributed towards the preparation of national and city air quality management plans in India.
With support from Bloomberg Philanthropies, TERI is assisting the Government of India in carrying out different activities listed in the NCAP. TERI is working with cities and State Pollution Control Boards to carry out source apportionment studies and strengthen action plans.
