Maldives - Develop emission inventories for the Maldives transport sector

This project responds to the request by the Maldives’ Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and 
Technology to provide training to strengthen institutional capacity to develop transportation emission 
inventories to provide more specific data (i.e., beyond LEAP) to build more accurate inventories. The project 
builds on the Maldives’ National SLCP Plan, and other government policies such as the National Action Plan on 
Air Pollutants.

Objectives

This project will achieve by its completion: 

  • Maldives’s government has increased capacity to evaluate and implement transportation measures based on improved transportation emission inventories

What we're doing

The main deliverables for this project are: 

  • A report on transportation emission inventories summarizing data sources used (national and international sources), processing procedures, and recommendations of the organizations where indicator data can be obtained for the transport sector, including major data gaps 
  • Capacity development in support of transportation emission inventories applying guidelines and tools (e.g., excel spreadsheets)  
  • At least two workshops with relevant stakeholders to support development of more accurate transportation emission inventories for the Maldives
