Maximizing air quality, health and development benefits on the path to achieving global climate goals is the way forward.

Message from the Secretariat

India, with a population of 1.3 billion and the fastest growing economy in the world, was the global host for the 2018 World Environment Day in June. The event was a massive success!

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition participated in the launch of new programs to implement Maharashtra State’s ambitious 2018 electric vehicle policy, which aims to offer soot-free commuting to more than 100 million people. We took part in the week-long dialogue ‘the Knowledge Coalition’ in Delhi, discussing and showing how to address pollution on all fronts.

The efforts were led by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, and UN Environment Executive Director Erik Solheim, with Prime Minister Modi and thousands of people, authorities and businesses joining up for environmental causes across India.

We look forward to further collaboration and leadership from India in combatting both climate change and air pollution – for multiple benefits!
