javascript:void(0)Countries and other stakeholders met at the UN Environment Assembly in Nairobi in March to define ways forward towards sustainable consumption and production. In New York and Copenhagen, member states have met this month to discuss synergies between implementing the sustainable development goals and the Paris Agreement. In the meantime, young people and students continue to take to the streets to demand concrete actions to limit catastrophic climate change.

Fast action with quick results and multiple benefits is in demand!

The partners of the Climate & Clean Air Coalition met in Nairobi to discuss our role in addressing the 1.5˚C challenge and a vision towards 2030. Air pollution, climate mitigation and adaptation, and sustainable development are closely linked. We offer an integrated approach, using a “multiple benefits pathway framework”, to identify strategies that maximize synergies and avoid negative trade-offs. Using this approach help decision-makers compare the impacts and benefits of policies and measures, reduce the costs of achieving climate and sustainable development goals, and increase the social, institutional, and economic feasibility of additional necessary actions.

We will work together to help countries raise their ambition in the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) by integrating analysis and policies that apply this approach. This means specific actions on short-lived climate pollutants, including methane, black carbon and HFCs and in the agriculture, industry and transport sectors, as well as including more energy efficient cooling.
