Capacity Building Workshop: Development of a Tier 2 greenhouse gas inventory in the livestock sector in Eswatini

As part of the NDC Partnership Climate Action Enhancement Package (CAEP), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in partnership with the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), an initiative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment)  is supporting the development of a Tier 2 GHG inventory in the livestock sector for Eswatini. This work will provide recommendations on possible steps towards a low carbon livestock sector that can be taken by the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant stakeholders, in the preparation of their next NDC revision.

Date & Time: 21 April from 09:00 -12:15 (SAST) and 22 April from (09:00 - 11:00 (SAST)

FAO is organizing a workshop to present the results of the inventory and to build capacity in relation to raising ambitions for climate action in the livestock sector, building GHG inventories, and establishing evidence-based targets for greenhouse gas mitigation in livestock systems.

The objectives of the workshop are:

• To present and review the results of the Tier 2 livestock GHG inventory for Eswatini.
• To present and review the mitigation actions defined for the country and their impact on the GHG projections.
• To build capacity for data collection, identifying data gaps and improving relevant data in Eswatini

The workshop will be interactive, and participants will be actively engaged in discussions and other workshop activities. Information material for appropriate preparation will be sent to participants in advance.
