The Coalition is co-organising several events under the Marrakech Partnership Global Climate Action agenda (MPGCA) Agriculture Day taking place from 10:00-20:00. We are also holding a special event showcasing a near-term pathway to keep global temperature increases well below 2˚Celsius. Find all information you need to attend here:
12:00-13:10 Opportunities for enhancing NDC ambition with short-lived climate pollutants
15:00-16:30 Scaling up climate-smart agriculture to achieve the NDCs in the agriculture sector
18:30-20:00 Pathways and strategies to keep warming well below 2⁰C
Agriculture Day event co-organised by the CCAC
Room 6, Bonn Zone
This event will explore initiatives on the ground that reduce emissions from livestock production, sustain livelihoods in a changing climate, and provide for human nutrition. It will focus on various production systems and regions, as well as forward-looking options for policy-makers.

The development of enhanced NDCs presents a valuable opportunity to highlight the critical role of SLCPs and pursue actions to reduce them, as well as generating important economic and development benefits. The roundtable discussion will focus on identifying opportunities and articulating options for incorporating SLCPs in enhanced NDCs.

The Paris Climate Agreement under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) explicitly links the world’s long-term climate and near-term sustainability agendas, emphasizing that efforts to address climate change should occur within “the context of sustainable development and efforts to eradicate poverty.” Signatories aim to hold “the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C.” Urgent action is clearly needed, but there are many paths toward this long-term climate goal. In the context of sustainable development, the path the world takes to meet the long-term temperature target is as important as achieving the target itself, particularly for those that are already suffering from the impacts of climate change and poor air quality.
This event will highlight the opportunities and multiple benefits that arise from quick action to reduce short-lived climate pollutants. A climate pathway that moves to immediately reduce both near and long-term warming benefits health, energy efficiency, food security, and sustainable development and can prevent up 0.6⁰C by mid-century.
