Regional Dialogue for LAC (3 part series). Ambitions to reduce emissions in the livestock sector: Strengthening of capacities and construction of networks for review and implementation

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) together with the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA), New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Center (NZAGRC) and the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) are conducting a consultative process to address technical and institutional issues related to methane mitigation in the livestock sector, the definition of actions for the review and implementation of NDCs and NAMAs, and the prioritization of regional collaboration areas. The process is part of the project “Creating the enabling environment to improve climate ambition and climate action through institutional capacity building”. In this context,  a series of online regional dialogues will be held to identify technical and institutional priorities, capacities and financing mechanisms required and to strengthen coordination and dialogue between countries. 

Specific participation is being requested on behalf of CCAC during the third dialogue, on 10 August, “Building Networks to Implement Methane Reduction Ambitions in the Livestock Sector,”  organizations working in the region will be requested to present their livestock and methane related activities to countries and opportunities for potential partnerships. 

The series of regional dialogues will be held in Spanish with simultaneous translation into English.

The process will take place between the months of July and August 2021, according to the following schedule:

Introductory Dialogue: Identification of ambitions and challenges (2 hours) | July 7
Prioritization Dialogue: National Priorities and Needs (2 hours) | July 21
Linking Dialogue: Building Networks to Implement Methane Reduction Ambitions in the Livestock Sector (2 hours) | August 10
