One of the simplest steps is the adoption of improved cookstoves, which should bring about little or no change in customs and traditions.
This roadmap is based on best practices and lessons learned presented in the “Comparative study on rural cooking in the residential sector in Colombia, Mexico and Peru”.
The document points out the steps that should be taken to achieve an appropriate promotion of improved cookstoves in a country. To this end the roadmap presents a framework of six strategic pillars: (i) strategies of sectoral support; (ii) coordination platforms; (iii) financing mechanisms; (iv) tax, tax benefits and rates; (v) norms, standards and MRV; and (vi) awareness and information tools.
