The management of municipal solid waste (MSW) sector is worth USD 390 billion in both OECD and emerging countries and provides up to 5% of urban jobs in low-income countries. Global MSW production is projected to double in the next 15 years. MSW management in developing countries is currently inadequate, posing a challenge, yet also an opportunity for the private sector.
