Bosnia and Herzegovina joined the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) in 2023, endorsing the CCAC's 2030 Strategy to deliver significant reductions in short-lived climate pollutants over the next decade to hold warming to 1.5˚C.

“We are particularly interested in the cooling, heavy-duty diesel vehicles and engines, solid waste, oil and gas, and household energy sectors,” Minister Staša Mošarac said in a written statement.

At the time of joining, Bosnia and Herzegovina was preparing its Integrated Energy and Climate Plan until 2030 (NECP BiH). This document was expected to define the target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, including methane, and inform its revised Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to the Paris Agreement.

The country wasted no time moving forward with its participation in the CCAC, requesting support for national planning and mitigation actions. These projects are expected to launch in 2024.
