London Climate Action Week Methane Finance Workshop

-
(London)

-by invitation only-

Methane contributes 30% of current climate change but receives less than 3% of climate finance. There has been a recent increase of climate philanthropy targeting methane reductions. Leveraging new grant funding into methane-reducing investments will require coordination between philanthropy, civil society, governments, and the international financial institutions.

This workshop aims to:

  • Identify key barriers across the funding continuum—from early-stage grants to large-scale lending—that are limiting the flow of capital to methane mitigation;
  • Pinpoint critical enabling gaps in the ecosystem (e.g., implementer capacity, technology readiness) that hinder scalable investment;
  • Define actionable solutions to address high-priority barriers, including both tactical improvements to existing programs and opportunities for new funding initiatives;
  • Share insights and recommendations with institutional leaders and funders to inform strategy and catalyze coordination.
