This report, by Chinese scientists and experts, takes up the task of identifying how China can achieve the potential benefits from mitigating SLCPs by synthesising current China-relevant knowledge on air pollution and SLCPs and by reviewing existing efforts as well as presenting options for further action. It provides information on the benefits that could accrue to China, if actions are taken at the national level and if cooperation is strengthened nternationally.

For China, the impacts of SLCPs are very pertinent and the need to create national structures for reducing SLCP emissions cannot be overemphasized. SLCPs have contributed to the various air pollution episodes in China in recent years and have significantly affected human wellbeing and socio-economic development.
