The Tundra Reindeer Farm Project and the recently completed installations at the Karelia Valday Cluster of projects are the first black carbon mitigation projects to have been proposed and implemented through the Arctic Council Project Support Instrument (PSI).  These projects are intended to demonstrate the viability of renewable energy sources in the Arctic as well as highlight the health, environmental, and long-term economic benefits associated with a shift to renewables.
