This study includes a comprehensive assessment of the situation of urban climate finance in the three countries of South Africa, Chile and India with a specific focus on the partner cities of the “Cities Fit for Climate Change” (CFCC) project: eThekwini (Durban), Santiago de Chile and Chennai. Recommendations are included for improving municipal/city access to funding instruments for climate change related work and for better integrating climate change into planning mechanisms.The CFCC project is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) supports this initiative on the basis of a decision adopted by the German Bundestag.
