Liberia joined the Climate and Clean Air Coalition in 2014 to raise national awareness about the dangerous impacts of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) and strengthen its SLCP mitigation activities. Represented by the Environment Protection Agency (EPA), the country recognizes the extent to which SLCP reductions contribute to national and global environmental sustainability.
EPA Liberia seeks to fully integrate SLCPs into the national climate change portfolio and support the development of national air quality regulation. The country also wishes to develop a National SLCP Action Plan. To this end, Liberia is involved in the Coalition's Supporting National Planning (SNAP), HFC, Household Energy, and Waste Initiatives.
