GMP countries are encouraged to develop or update Methane Action Plans. The Climate and Clean Air Coalition, as the first point-of-call for GMP countries, has launched the Methane Roadmap Action Programme (M-RAP) to support development and implementation of transparent and consistent national methane roadmaps. National planning for methane abatement supports coordinated and accelerated progress on identification and development of relevant methane targeted measures and supporting policies, including in the context of NDCs revision. All ODA-eligible GMP countries can receive CCAC funding support to develop their National Methane Roadmap or Action Plan. Learn more about M-RAP and access the Methane Roadmap template and examples National Methane Action Plans below. Objectives Quickly identify country needs mobilize implementing partners and support Build capacity within national institutions (in-line with the established CCAC national planning methodology) to identify priority actions in the major methane emitting sectors - fossil fuel production, agriculture, and waste - and develop implementation plans for these priorities Engage countries to translate existing commitments, strategies, and policies into implementable roadmaps to achieve tangible action alongside a continual step-wise strengthening process. Achieve consistency in understanding methane ambition across countries Facilitate continual strengthening of action and ambition through engagement with relevant CCAC Hubs Building a Community of Practice on national planning to reduce methane About the programme The programme will built from the decade-long experience and methodology of the CCAC's National Planning process. It supports countries to identify, analyze and build on existing commitments, plans, and activities using a transparent and harmonized methodology. This approach provides a common baseline for collective action and tracking. The programme's non-prescriptive format is flexible enough to support identification and articulation of current commitments as well as opportunities for increased ambition. With a wide range of expertise in the CCAC partnership and extended Hub networks, the CCAC can help countries quickly fill gaps, provide capacity building where needed, and build a pipeline of mitigation projects.
