We focus on these sectors to identify the most cost-efficient and practical pathways to reduce their emissions. We work closely with relevant communities, industry representatives, NGOs and policy makers to support targeted improvements to technology, best practice and policies.

Reducing Emissions from Heavy-Duty Vehicles and Fuels

The CCAC’s seven Hubs address agriculture, cooling, fossil fuel, heavy-duty vehicles, household energy, waste and national planning. Through these Hubs, the CCAC aims to advance action on SLCPs mitigation in key sectors. For more information about the Hubs, visit the About the Hubs page.

The Heavy-Duty Vehicles and Engines Hub brings together governments, inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations along with private sector leaders to catalyse major reductions in black carbon through adoption of clean fuel and vehicle regulations and supporting policies. Efforts focus on global adoption of Euro VI standards, scaling up soot free and electric buses, non-road mobile machinery and stationary engines, marine and inland water transport and green freight.

The Fossil Fuels Hub brings together governments, inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations along with private sector leaders to promote significant reductions in methane and black carbon emissions from the oil and gas sector.

The Waste Hub brings together governments, inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations along with private sector leaders to share expertise and support countries in mitigating SLCPs from organic waste and opening burning of waste. The Waste Hub works closely with the National Planning Hub and the Agriculture Hub to identify synergies and further opportunities for collaboration.

Promoting HFC Alternative Technology and Standards

This initiative targets governments and the private sector to address rapidly growing HFC emissions, which could account for as much as 19% of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2050, if left unchecked.

The Household Energy Hub brings together governments, inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations along with private sector leaders to scale up and accelerate the reduction of short-lived climate pollutant emissions from these sources globally, alongside long-lived greenhouse gases, to mitigate climate change, improve livelihoods, empower women, and protect the environment and human health.

Increasing Agricultural Climate Action & Ambition

The Agriculture Hub brings together governments, inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations along with private sector leaders in the agriculture sector to share expertise and support countries in mitigating SLCPs from paddy rice cultivation, livestock and open burning of agriculture. The Agriculture Hub works closely with the National Planning Hub and the Waste Hub along with the Methane Roadmap Action Programme (M-RAP) to identify synergies and further opportunities for collaboration.

Improving energy efficiency in the cooling sector

The Cooling Hub brings together governments, inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations along with private sector leaders to build high-level political leadership and facilitate collaboration among stakeholders. The aim is to enhance energy efficiency in the cooling sector while countries implement the phase-down of HFC refrigerants under the Montreal Protocol.

The National Planning Hub brings together governments, inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations along with private sector leaders to scale up action in a coordinated and prioritized way. This includes helping countries assess their emissions and mitigation options to respond in a more prioritised, targeted and cost-effective manner and address the challenges to implementation.
