Following several years of collaboration with the Coalition, the regional group ECOWAS, Economic Community of West African States, formally joined as a partner following endorsement from its 15 member states in 2017.
In addition to its mandate of promoting economic integration in all fields of activity of the constituting countries, ECOWAS fully supports Coalition activities to reduce short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) that contribute to improved air quality, economic development and the fight against climate change. The organisation will focus on developing and implementing projects at the regional level.
