As the secretariat for the African Union, the African Union Commission (AUC) is well positioned to engage with its member states and the African Regional Economic Communities on meaningful action to reduce short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs).
The AUC is committed to support efforts to reduce SLCPs on the African continent through multiple activities, including awareness raising activites about the impacts of these pollutants, facilitating the development of national and regional action, and reinforcing and tracking mitigation action with the development of an African Regional Inventory.
The AUC is engaged in one of the Coalition's key activities, the Integrated Assessment of Air Pollution and Climate Change in Africa. It will provide leadership and support throughout the assessment process, as well as during the launch of the report and the subsequent implementation of recommended actions across Africa.
