HFCville is an interactive application that illustrates where HFCs are commonly used and where lower global warming potential (GWP) substances and alternative technologies are readily available to replace high-GWP HFC use. The HFCville interactive village covers 14 areas of our daily lives where HFCs are used and shows which lower GWP alternatives can be used to replace them.
HFCville was developed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA). The tool was made available by the Coalition into 3 languages: English, French and Spanish, and is currently hosted on the Coalition's website. Users can click on items in HFC-ville to learn more about where HFCs can be replaced to reduce emissions and overall impact on climate. Users can also hover over the icons in the pop-up boxes for each substance to find information on the use of the substance, the U.S. EPA SNAP program status, and the GWP.
This application aims to promote the development, commercialization, and adoption of climate-friendly alternatives to high-GWP HFCs for all relevant industry sectors.
