About

Spain announced its commitment to reducing short-lived climate pollutants in 2019.

Spain has been taking steps to tackle health, climate change and air quality, which it considers to be major and connected challenges. It has put forward a Strategic Climate and Energy Framework, an ambitious plan to achieve its commitment under the Paris Agreement, work towards carbon neutrality, and achieve 100% renewable electricity generation by 2050.

The country has also developed a National Air Pollution Control Programme that aims to achieve the WHO Ambient Air Quality Guideline values and further reduce air pollution and its associated risks to human health and the environment.
