This year in Lima, Peru, in the margins of the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the CCAC and partners are active in raising awareness about SLCP mitigation benefits supported by recent science updates and the Coalition’s achievements to date.
The COP this year is particularly important, as it’s the final one before countries and their heads of state meet in Paris at the end of 2015 to conclude what many hope will be an historic global agreement on climate change. The CCAC will be featured at several side events at COP20 and will have an exhibit booth providing opportunities to learn more about its initiatives and action areas.
An internal CCAC Task Force on Demonstrating Impact workshop will be organized on 4-5 December at the Ministry of Environment of Peru. It will be the first gathering of the Task Force on measuring impact set up by the CCAC Working Group in April 2014. Nominated delegates from initiatives and Partners will look at existing objectives and means of demonstrating impact within initiatives and for CCAC as a whole, and explore the review of indicators.
Building on a successful presence at the UN Climate Summit in September 2014, the CCAC intends to scale up commitments in other action areas, especially in relation to initiatives that target black carbon emissions reduction in Latin America and the Caribbean as well as the Asian region.
