Super Pollutant Country Action Accelerator Embedding super pollutant coordination teams in governments About the Accelerator Farmers’ Initiative for Resilient and Sustainable Transformations (FIRST) About the Initiative Global Methane Pledge The CCAC provide Secretariat functions of the Global Methane Pledge to support countries in achieving their GMP commitments Check out our support system Why climate and clean air?Actions that address climate change and air pollution at the same time achieve greater results. We promote actions to reduce super pollutants, which are short-lived in the atmosphere and have a rapid impact on global warming and human health.About The climate and clean air CoalitionThe Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a voluntary partnership of over 200 governments, intergovernmental organizations, businesses, scientific institutions and civil society organizations committed to protecting the climate and improving air quality through actions to reduce the super pollutants which are short-lived in the atmosphere: methane, black carbon, tropospheric ozone and HFCs, through a practical, measures-based approach. The Coalition’s work is grounded in robust science and analysis and supported by a dedicated Trust Fund, which together have fostered high-level political commitment, in-country implementation, and tools that strengthen the case for action and accelerate action and results. The Coalition drives concerted global efforts to implement known practices and existing technologies that can achieve global reductions of at least 40% of methane by 2030 compared to 2010; up to 70% of black carbon by 2030 relative to 2010; and 99.5% of HFCs by 2050 compared to 2010.OUR VISIONOur vision is an atmosphere that enables people and the planet to thrive – stabilizing the climate with warming limited to 1.5°C and drastically reduced air pollution.OUR MISSIONOur mission is to put the world on a pathway that rapidly reduces warming in the near-term and maximizes development, health, environmental and food security benefits. We will achieve this by catalysing fast action to reduce short-lived climate pollutants. The Coalition is the only global intergovernmental organization dedicated to this task. Our mission contributes to global efforts to decarbonize the economy, limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C, reduce air pollution, and achieve the related Sustainable Development Goals. 1/3 2/3 3/3 Previous What are short-lived climate pollutants? Short-lived climate pollutants have a strong near-term warming effect on the climate and significant impacts on our health and the environment. About SLCPs Methane Black carbon Hydrofluorocarbons Tropospheric ozone How can we reduce short-lived climate pollutants? Simple actions, such as plugging methane leaks from oil and gas production, banning agricultural burning, and composting food waste, can drastically reduce emissions. Solutions Implementing solutions available now can avoid up to 0.6°C of warming by 2050 How we support action The Climate and Clean Air Coalition leverages science, finance, and political will to drive global action on short-lived climate pollutants.
