Achieving Climate Goals Through Clean Cooking

This webinar will be hosted by the Clean Cooking & Climate Consortium (4C), a newly formed partnership led by the Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA) that includes the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), and Berkeley Air Monitoring Group. The consortium was formed to support country governments in using cooking energy interventions to achieve climate goals, as part of their NDC targets or to create tradable assets under the Article 6 framework.

This event is designed primarily for countries that have included household energy or clean cooking related goals in their NDC.

There will be two identical sessions of the webinar held on different dates and times with the goal of accommodating attendees from various time zones. Please register for the session that is most convenient for you.

  • March 30th from 8:00-9:30 AM Washington, DC time:  Register here
  • March 31st from 10:00-11:30 PM Washington, DC time:  Register here

  • Provide national governments with evidence and guidance on how best to articulate, plan, and meet the cooking-related goals in their NDCs to access opportunities for implementation support and potential funding.
  • Show how broad NDC goals for adjacent sectors can provide a mandate for countries interested in addressing clean cooking but without specific cooking targets in their NDCs.
  • Offer considerations for program design and implementation, as well as measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) for clean cooking initiatives.

  • Introduction and welcome
  • Climate and environmental impacts and other co-benefits of clean cooking
  • Short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) and clean cooking
  • Discussion and examples of NDC targets encompassing clean cooking
  • Overview of MRV for cooking energy interventions
  • Technical support from the Clean Cooking & Climate Consortium

The webinar will be held in English on Zoom, with simultaneous interpretation provided into Spanish and French. Webinar slides will be in English, with Spanish and French translations of the slide deck made available ahead of time.
