Children are uniquely vulnerable to air pollution, affecting their development. Air quality monitoring helps us understand the status of air quality for public healthprotection, enables the assessment of air pollution trends and impacts, and helps guide the development and monitoring of effectiveness of policies. There have been strides in global earth observation and monitoring systems for air quality. However, there are significant data gaps and capacity challenges. This online dialogue will introduce the basics in setting up an air quality monitoring network, including use of low-cost sensors, and facilitate sharing of experience and lessons learned to strengthen efforts on airquality monitoring. Part 1 will provide an introduction on air quality monitoring and facilitate knowledge sharing on air quality monitoring efforts, and Part 2 is a technical session for experts to provide advice on how to design an air quality monitoring system.
