CCAC at the Africa Clean Air Forum 2026

The Africa Clean Air Forum 2026 will bring together policymakers, researchers, practitioners, development partners, civil society and other clean air leaders from across Africa to strengthen cooperation and accelerate action on air pollution across the continent. 

Held under the theme “Investment Case for Clean Air and Healthy Cities,” the Forum will provide an important platform to explore how African countries and cities can translate growing political momentum, scientific evidence and clean air commitments into implementation and investment. 

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) will join the Forum to highlight the importance of addressing air pollution and super pollutants together and to advance implementation of the Africa Clean Air Programme (ACAP). 

Developed in collaboration with the African Union Commission and partners, ACAP provides a framework for coordinated continental action on air pollution and climate change. It aims to strengthen air quality management, regional cooperation, technical capacity and knowledge exchange while supporting countries in translating scientific evidence into effective policies and investments. 

The Forum will provide an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between governments, the African Union Commission, Regional Economic Communities, technical institutions and development partners around implementation of ACAP and other clean air initiatives across the continent. 

CCAC engagement will also highlight tools and initiatives available to support African governments, including the Air Quality Management Exchange (AQMx), the Africa Integrated Assessment on Air Pollution and Climate Change, and the Super Pollutant Country Action Accelerator. 

A key focus of the Forum will be strengthening the economic and investment case for clean air. Discussions will explore how improved air quality data, health and economic evidence, stronger institutions and investment-ready interventions can help mobilize domestic resources, development finance and private investment for clean air action. 

CCAC and partners will contribute to discussions across a range of priority areas, including air quality management and monitoring, transport, waste, household energy, regional standards and institutional capacity. 

The Forum will also provide an opportunity to explore how regional knowledge hubs and Centres of Excellence can strengthen technical capacity, facilitate peer-to-peer learning and provide sustained support to countries as they develop and implement air quality policies and programmes. 

Through its participation, CCAC will support efforts to connect national action with stronger regional cooperation and help build momentum for implementation of clean air and climate solutions across Africa.

CCAC at the Forum 

CCAC will participate in a number of sessions and discussions throughout the Africa Clean Air Forum, including on: 

• Africa Clean Air Programme (ACAP) and regional cooperation on air quality 

• Financing and the investment case for clean air 

• Air quality management and the Air Quality Management Exchange (AQMx) 

• Regional knowledge hubs and Centres of Excellence 

• Cleaner transport, fuels and vehicle standards 

• Super pollutant mitigation and integrated climate and clean air action
