CCAC Scientific Advisory Panel Expert Workshop on Near Term Metrics for Accounting and Reporting in Black Carbon and Methane Interventions

16-17 March - Ottawa, Canada

This workshop will bring together scientists, experts and relevant stakeholders from the finance, policymaking, standardization, and implementing communities to discuss the science, economics, policymaking and development aspects related to metrics for accounting methane and black carbon emission reduction interventions and how to quantify and report these benefits.

The ultimate goal of the workshop is to come to a scientifically credible consensus on how to quantify the near-term impacts and multiple benefits of methane and black carbon emission abatement interventions, taking into consideration the climate, health, agricultural, economics and other development perspectives. The workshop would also provide guidance on emissions inventory development and reporting on emissions reduction actions within and outside the Coalition, especially for black carbon.

The output and recommendations from the workshop will serve as input to the 2017 CCAC Science Policy Dialogue scheduled for 25 April 2017 in Chile, and will provide guidance for future Coalition’s activities.

Participation by invitation only.
