COP17 Side Event - Waste in the Spotlight: A Call for Sound Management & Global Action

While issues like plastic pollution are visible, many impacts of poor waste management—such as air, soil, and water contamination—remain invisible but equally harmful.
 

This side event, co-organised by Partenariat français pour les déchets / French Solid Waste Partnership, ISWA International Solid Waste Association, Climate & Clean Air Coalition, UN Environment Programme, GRID-Arendal, Agence Française de Développement, UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme), and the The Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions secretariat, will:
 

• Highlight how much waste & resources management is a building block of sustainable development 
   
• Showcase the role of ESM applied to household waste
   
• Dive into the role of women and the informal sector in the transition to sustainable development

Let’s launch a collective movement to make waste management a global priority in the post-2030 development agenda!
