The solid waste sector is responsible for 16% of methane emissions in Brazil, with landfilling of organic waste as the main source. The country, a signatory to the Global Methane Pledge, aims to reduce these emissions by 30% by 2030. Implementing solutions such as composting and biodigestion, with the participation of waste pickers and local governments, is crucial for mitigation and the generation of decent jobs.
