There is growing belief that Covid-19 is airborne and therefore policymakers, businesses and the general public are keen to understand the relationship between air-conditioning and Covid. This webinar will provide basic guidance on how to keep using air-conditioning to avoid the risk of transmission, while ensuring that negative impacts to the climate and energy efficiency are also avoided or minimised.

In March 2020, ASHRAE announced the establishment of the ASHRAE Epidemic Task Force, which aims to deploy ASHRAE technical resources to help address challenges regarding HVAC systems in the current pandemic and future epidemics. The Task Force provides recommendations for stakeholders such as: governments, health officials, contractors, engineers, and facility managers in setting up temporary field hospitals, and quarantines in convention centers, arenas, and indoor stadia and modifying the operation of non-healthcare facilities to reduce risk of COVID-19 transmission.

In this special webinar we heard from Prof. Walid Chakroun, Fellow ASHRAE and member of Covid-19 Task Force and Professor, College of Engineering & Petroleum, Kuwait University, about the do's and don'ts in servicing and maintenance of space cooling equipment and appliances to protect human health and the environment.
