LOW-Methane Partnership in Action: Scaling Equitable, Community-Led Waste Methane Solutions

-
COP30, Room 4
Belem

The Lowering Organic Waste Methane (LOW-M) Partnership, launched under the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), is a rapidly expanding global coalition of jurisdictions committed to scaling organic waste methane mitigation through equitable, community-driven approaches.

With a goal of 20 participating jurisdictions by COP30, LOW-M supports local governments—particularly in the Global South—in implementing solutions aligned with its “LOW-M Levers.” These interventions deliver immediate methane mitigation while advancing co-benefits like job creation, improved public health, and reduced landfill dependency.

This side event will showcase how LOW-M partners are delivering measurable methane reductions through community- and waste picker-led models that deserve scaled financing under the NDC 3.0 and Baku-to-Belém frameworks.
