Ministerial Roundtable Discussion: Reducing Methane for Sustainable Development

The CCAC in partnership with the AMCEN Secretariat will host a Ministerial breakfast during the Nineteenth ordinary session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN). 

A key aspect of this discussion is how we can achieve the objective set out under the Global Methane Pledge (GMP) to reduce global methane emissions by at least 30% by 2030 through the combined mitigation potential in the fossil fuel, agriculture, and waste sectors while advancing on Agenda 2063. This includes sustaining the momentum that African countries have built as leaders of methane ambition - with 40 African countries signing onto the GMP, more than 20 national methane roadmaps under development or completed, and many countries including methane in updated NDCs.
