MOP30 Side Event: First Results from CO2 Transcritical Supermarket Demo Project in Jordan

In February 2018, the first transcritical CO2 supermarket in the Middle East opened at the Al-Salam military supermarket in Amman, Jordan. The demonstration project was supported by the Ministry of Environment of Jordan, funded by CCAC and implemented by UNIDO. To ensure high efficiency also during the high ambient temperatures in the summer months, the system integrates state-of-the-art ejector technology. The first results from the energy efficiency monitoring and comparison with an HFC alternative system as well as its impact on the environment and food waste reduction will be shared and discussed with the audience.
