[In-Person] Africa Clean Air Program (ACAP) Road Map Design and Development

-
(Accra)

The African Clean Air Programme (ACAP) is a key platform for regional cooperation addressing air pollution, climate change, and sustainable development in Africa. Led by the African Union Commission (AUC) in collaboration with UNEP-ROA, the Stockholm Environment Institute, CCAC, regional experts, the private sector, and communities, ACAP is currently under development. A benchmarking report on Air Quality Management (AQM) in Africa—developed by a project team representing Africa’s five regions—will be presented to AU Member States and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) for input. The key components for ACAP roadmap development and implementation will be discussed at a physical meeting in Accra, Ghana (22–23 May 2025), where country and sector experts active in air quality management will review and refine the draft roadmap, setting the stage for its finalization.

Objectives

  1. Assess and update the results of the benchmarking report;

  2. Develop the key components of an ACAP roadmap that align with existing initiatives;

  3. Update on CCAC led champion country initiatives and good practice.
