Queen Elizabeth II Centre, Moore Room, 4th Floor
London

This high-level public event will spotlight growing regional cooperation to tackle air pollution in Africa, with a special focus on the Africa Clean Air Programme (ACAP)—a flagship initiative aimed at improving air quality and advancing sustainable development across the continent.

The event comes at a key moment. Building on the momentum of the UK’s recent announcement of £700,000 in new support for ACAP, and ahead of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in August 2025, the session will bring together a distinguished group of government leaders, regional champions, international donors, philanthropies, and technical partners.

Objectives

  • Showcase progress under the Africa Clean Air Programme, including national and regional actions to reduce air pollution and its health impacts;
  • Promote cross-border cooperation and coordination on clean air policies across Africa;
  • Highlight the UK’s leadership and new financial commitment to the initiative;
  • Encourage greater support from international donors and philanthropies to scale ACAP's impact;
  • Emphasize the health, climate, and economic co-benefits of clean air initiatives.
