Spanning three days, the workshop will explore various aspects of methane mitigation, from policy discussions and research innovations to finance mechanisms and on-the-ground implementation strategies.Day 1 will highlight innovations for methane abatement in the livestock sector (Watch the live stream here).Day 2 will focus on policy and implementation, featuring a morning session on a methane roadmap action plan and an afternoon workshop on facilitating climate finance in the agriculture sector (Watch the live stream here).Day 3 will feature a field trip to local biogas production facilities and farms to highlight best practices in agricultural methane abatement.ObjectiveThe workshop aims to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and actionable strategies to scale methane mitigation efforts in tropical agrifood systems, ultimately contributing to climate resilience and broader sustainable development goals. CCAC and Clim-Eat will present a report with recommendations to the G20 Agriculture Working Group based on the outcomes of the workshop.OutcomesShowcasing Locally Adapted Solutions: The workshop will highlight research and innovation from institutions like Embrapa and International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). The field trip on Day 3 will showcase innovative approaches to land restoration, crop-livestock-forest integration, and optimized herd management in tropical pasture systems. This hands-on experience will provide participants with practical insights into implementing sustainable practices on the ground.Linking Methane Roadmaps to Climate Finance: The workshop will explore technical and policy challenges in connecting methane mitigation to finance mechanisms, aiming to bridge gaps and foster regional networks for collaboration.Exploring Finance Models for Scale: A significant portion of the workshop will focus on scaling finance mechanisms tailored to tropical agriculture. Discussions will revolve around inclusive finance models, derisking investment, and exploring public, private, and blended finance approaches to catalyse sustainable production practices.Report to G20: Outcomes from the innovations and finance workshops will be presented in a report to the G20 Agriculture Working Group Meeting, 12-13 September.
