CCAC National Project Coordinator for Iraq

The CCAC is seeking a National Project Coordinator to strengthen the capacity of Iraq’s Ministry of Environment to support the successful delivery of the projects [IQ-22-001] Iraq - Deliver a national methane emission inventory and mitigation assessment for the oil and gas sector to support Iraq meet its mitigation goals for the sector and support other CCAC activities in the country; and IQ-23-002 - Iraq – Waste sector strategy to support NDC Action Plan and NAMA projects.

The CCAC National Project Coordinator will sit at the Ministry of Environment. S/he will work in close collaboration with the CCAC Secretariat team and focal points at the Ministry to coordinate the implementation of CCAC projects in Iraq and will liaise with implementing partners to enhance awareness on SLCPs. The CCAC supported projects include:
• IQ-22-001 - Iraq - Deliver a national methane emission inventory and mitigation assessment for the oil and gas sector to support Iraq meet its mitigation goals for the sector
• IQ-23-002 - Iraq – Waste sector strategy to support NDC Action Plan and NAMA projects

Qualifications/special skills

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in a subject related to environmental management/science, economics, health, project management, finance, administration, or in a relevant field is required.
• At least 5 years of professional experience working in a field relevant to environmental management/science, climate change, economics, health, project management, finance, administration is required.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance to governments and other stakeholders is required.
• Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholder groups including national governments is required.
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral presentations) are required.
• Knowledge of the national policies in climate change mitigation and air pollution is required.
• A good understanding of short-lived climate pollutants, climate change and air pollution issues in Iraq is desirable.¿
• Ability to work with advanced formulas in Excel spreadsheet is desirable.

Languages

• Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken) is required.
