Newsletter: February 2022 Subscribe Share SHARE Facebook share Twitter LinkedIn Copy URL Email Breadcrumb Home Newsletter Newsletter: February 2022 Content Dear reader, 2023 is shaping up to be our most ambitious year yet. In response to unprecedented demand, the Climate and Clean Air Coalition has more than doubled support for project funding, creating more opportunities for country-driven projects to reduce short-lived climate pollutants and achieve our 2030 targets. We’re also strengthening regional coordination on climate change and air pollution, rolling out landmark regional workshops to expand our partnership and create real, large-scale impact. And we’re driving transformative action across key SLCP sectors: our Hubs are creating new opportunities to exchange ideas, discuss strategies, and scale up solutions, working together toward implementation. As we witness climate change unfolding in real time, we are consistently reminded that reducing SLCPs has never been more important. In 2023, we look forward to working with you to ensure a clean and safer future. Thank you, Martina Otto, Head of the CCAC Secretariat Updates from our partners The CCAC supports projects in over 30 countries. We are excited to share some of their achievements here. Pakistan develops National Clean Air Plan The plan was informed by the country’s first inventory, and will support a two-year project to advance implementation in provinces. Vietnam enhances methane ambition in agriculture The project will support mitigation commitments announced at COP26 and raise NDC methane ambition. Ghana moves toward implementation Ghana is putting its national planning work into action with a series of discrete, concrete, and measurable plans to reduce short-lived climate pollutants. Jordan works to meet NDC waste targets The project will provide technical assistance to support the implementation of waste sector targets in Jordan’s updated NDC. Nigeria implements guidelines for oil and gas sector The project will develop policies and regulations to ensure uptake of recent CCAC-funded Guidelines to mitigate methane from oil and gas sector. Colombia develops national roadmap to reduce open burning The roadmap will target the agro-forestry sector, including stubble and pastureland burning and use of fire to clear fallow lands. Regional cooperation The CCAC will host workshops thoughout 2023 to enable regional cooperation on climate and clean air action. Find out about upcoming events near you on our website. Methane Roadmap Workshop, France, February 2023. 22 countries convene to advance methane action Countries joined the CCAC Secretariat in Paris to receive technical support and policy guidance for the development of National Methane Roadmaps. This event advanced progress toward the Global Methane Pledge, a commitment to reduce global methane emissions by at least 30% by 2030.The workshop was the first in a series under the 2023 CCAC Methane Roadmap Action Programme (M-RAP). Air quality takes center stage in Central America and the Dominican Republic Together with our partners, the CCAC held a regional workshop in El Salvador to advance implementation of the Integrated Roadmap on Climate Change, Air Quality, and Health for the 8 SICA member countries. The workshop raised awareness on the health impacts of short-lived climate pollutants and collected inputs for the implementation of identified measures. This ongoing work shows the strength of regional climate and clean air action. Learn more about our work with SICA 2023 Announcements APPLY: The CCAC is hiring!
