Bosnia and Herzegovina - Accelerating implementation of coal mine methane mitigation measures

This project responds to a request for technical expert assistance from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina to identify finance sources for the implementation of coal mine methane reduction plans. 

This work aligns with Bosnia and Herzegovina's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) conditional target to reduce 65.6% of Greenhouse Gases by 2050, and will also align with the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) to 2030.  The results will be aligned with Bosnia and Herzegovina's National Methane Roadmap which is currently under development.

Objectives

The project will achieve by its completion: 

• The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina is equipped with a sectoral roadmap for financing of coal mine methane reduction plans. 
• Bosnia and Herzegovina has increased capacity to monitor, assess, and mitigate methane emissions from the coal mine sector.
