Cleaning Pakistan's Air: Policy Options to Address the Cost of Outdoor Air Pollution

This document examines options for Pakistan to address the significant costs that ever-worsening air pollution imposes upon its economy and populace. This book examines policy options to control Pakistan’s outdoor air pollution, with the aim of assisting the Government of Pakistan (GoP) in designing and implementing reforms to improve Pakistan’s ambient air quality regulatory framework. The book draws upon an analysis of air quality management (AQM) in Pakistan and is informed by international and regional best practices. The document proposes a prioritized menu of cost-effective interventions to improve Pakistan’s AQM, particularly in urban areas, which face the most significant air quality problems.
