This synthesis report documents Kenya's nationwide eCooking initiative carried out in 2023, targeting accelerated adoption of electric cooking technologies. Led by Kenya Power in collaboration with MECS and UK PACT, the program implemented twelve pilot projects centered on institutional cooking, consumer awareness, appliance testing, and tariff rationalization. Activities included demand stimulation through digital campaigns, field-testing cookstove efficiency, and integrating financing mechanisms like PayGo for low-income households. Infrastructure assessments guided the upgrade of grid connections to support large-scale electric cooking rollout. Capacity-building among county stakeholders and monitoring of user experiences were emphasized throughout. The report highlights Kenya Power's pivotal role in crafting the Kenya National eCooking Strategy (KNeCS), with strategic direction for increasing eCooking adoption from 90,000 to 500,000 households by 2026. Policy recommendations include pricing reforms, public-private partnerships, and expanded market engagement to transform the cooking sector into a sustainable, climate-friendly platform.
