EMISSIONS FROM ENERGY SECTORS, INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES AND PRODUCT USE

This document is part of SEEG's annual series of analytical reports, the Greenhouse Gas Emission and Removal Estimates System, an initiative of the Climate Observatory. The SEEG comprises the production of annual estimates of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Brazil, analyzes of emissions evolution and a web portal to make the system's data and methods available in a simple and clear way. Estimates of GHG emissions and removals are generated according to the guidelines of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), based on data from the Brazilian Inventory of Anthropogenic Emissions and Removals of Greenhouse Gases, prepared by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), and in data obtained from government reports, institutes, research centers, sectoral entities and non-governmental organizations. The five emission sources sectors are: Land Use Change, Agricultural, Waste, Energy and Industrial Processes and Product Use (PIUP). The data available in this SEEG collection constitute a series covering the period from 1970 to 2016, except for the Land Use Change sector, which has the series from 1990 to 2016. In addition, emissions are allocated in the 26 States and in the Federal District.
