It also highlights the many climate, health and development gains that can be achieved by focusing on these highly potent but short-lived gases which include methane, tropospheric ozone, black carbon and HFCs. Curbing climate change and preventing deaths from air pollution go hand-in-hand and should be part of all countries' climate and development agendas. Taking fast, ambitious action to reduce short-lived climate pollutants is vital to reducing the rate of global warming and keeping temperature rise below 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) — the ambition that all countries signed on to as part of the Paris Agreement.
