In Togo, and particularly in the capital, Lomé, the deterioration in air quality is a cause for growing concern, due to its harmful effects on human health, ecosystems and socio-economic development.In light of this, it is essential to raise awareness, inform and engage all stakeholders – public authorities, local governments, the private sector and the general public – in order to implement effective prevention and management strategies. This first issue of the environmental and health monitoring bulletin on air quality in Togo is part of an ongoing effort to provide key information on air pollution, its impacts, as well as current initiatives and planned measures to improve air quality in Togo in the long-term.
